Default Patriot Performance parts

anyone have any experience with Patriot Performance stuff... i was looking at there website, and it seems to be fairly inexpensive stuff as far as heads and cams, but what kinda quality is there stuff. it seemed to me they were HUNDREDS of dollars cheaper than SLP, COMP CAMS, Edlebrock, or anyone else for that matter, but you know the old saying "you get what you pay for"... just wanted to know if you guys had any input on this cuz i'm gettin close to buying a head a cam package. THNX

Read into this what you want, but I see where you have SLP cam package listed, well Patriot stuff is at least as good as SLP, or that's just IMHO.

There's alot of threads in which your question has been asked before and gotten alot of mixed opinions. I myself have been running a set of PP stage 2 heads for over a year and not had any problems, they seem to be a good product for the money.

Don't know the gains for just the heads as I had all my performance upgrades done at the same time-- heads, cam, LS6 intake, headers, and so on. The car put down around 400 rwhp, but the tuner had problems with my GMS maf sensor, plus that was through cats and a Flowmaster exhaust.

I will vouch for some of Patriots valvetrain components as being "Top Shelf".

Basically- alot of bad **** went on with patriot a while ago, and those people speak out moreso than the average joe. when you get the patriots, just make sure to ask for the upgraded valves.

as far as power goes, you def. get what you pay for with heads. if you want a really good set of heads you should PM tony at AFR, if you're looking for a decent bang for the buck head, then go with patriot. either way, call or PM whatever head company you choose and ask what cam meets your needs, you also may want to call a few venders.

Default heads

Ive had patriots on for 18 months or so, and ive had my rev limiter at 7000 and hit it hard constantly, and have had zero problems. Mine are holding fine, but i did notice the patriot logo stamped on the head was right where the exhast gasket seals, and it leaked slightly so i put sealant on it and it was fine. Also the porting was somewhat uneven looking, ie it could not flow exactly the same in a flow test port to port. Ive had other heads and porting many times and it always looked identical to the eye port to port, at least to the eye. The porting was underpar, and the ridge around the seat was not removed on my stage 2 as ive seen on other heads at stage 2, but hey they are cheap and its 2005, what do you get for this price!!!!

I've had my Patriot S2 5.3's for over a year now with no problems of any kind. Power numbers are in sig below. I gained 27rwhp going with their heads over my stock heads.

Our heads are equipped with the original Patriot "Gold" spring (much imitated) which is among the best springs on the market, Machined Super 7 Locks, Viton Rubber Seals, custom honed bronze guides, the customer's choice of our premium Patriot stainless valve or REV stainless valves (at no extra charge),titanium retainers and machined spring bases made in house. We offer our heads in many different combinations. For instance, we can do either stage II or III heads in 3.905", 4.00", 4.030", 4.060", 4.100", or 4.125" bores. We can also produce 59, 60, 61, 62, 64, 66, 67, 68, or 72cc chambers on any head for any bore. Our stage II heads can be fitted with 2.02"/1.57", 2.02"/1.60", 2.055"/1.57", or 2.055"/1.60" valves. All of this is available at the regular retail prices with no extra charges -- Shouldn't all these things be expected in a performance head? We think so.

I have the PP 5.3 Stage 2 heads and also installed a Lunati 224 cam. I only gained 50 HP on the dyno and 0.4 sec (3 mph) improvement in the quarter. Allthough my car runs well I think if I wouldn't have scipmped on the heads I would have gotten more.

Good luck,

Al

I have the PP stage 2 LS6 syle heads, hand finished. With the G5X-2, I put down 428/400 on a Superflow Dyno. I am very pleased with them.
