Default Average HP gains with aftermarket heads????

I was just curious about the average gains you get when installing heads. I'm going to get my car dynoed this week and wanted to get some kind of idea of what to expect. I dynoed at 350rwhp before installing the LS6 intake, Ported TB and 2.5 PRCs. I'm figuring about 20-25 hp for the intake and ported TB.

thanks...

I'd say a 30-40rwhp gain from a nice set of heads is typical.

I was thinking around 25-35. There were a lot of T1 cars dynoing in the 380-390 range. Cars w/ the T1 and heads were in the 405-415 range

Ummmmmm ..... well if I gain 30-40 HP with them then I would consider them a good set.

So if I don't see about 400 rwhp then I guess I didn't get a good set then.

thanks for the replys guys.

if your dyno was 350 before, the addition of the heads, intake and tb you should be over 400. good luck!

I went from 357 to 394 after installing some prc 2.5's from ffhp (milled .0015) on same dyno in similiar(hot!) weather. I had to bump my fuel pressure a couple lbs to compensate. I'm hoping for 420 with some longtubes and less restrictive exhaust.

Did you happen to get those heads flowtested? Just curious, not trying to start anything..

I have exactly 4" at the collectors, and I have 3" at the lowest point on the entire exhaust, which is the bend on the driver's side before it goes into the X-crossover.

A good set would be AFR's, TEA's, All-Pro's, and similar top end brands. However you will gain 30-40rwhp with most of the major budget heads. PRC, Patriot, etc...

garrett- your heads are not actually PRC heads, so to speak. The CNC work was done by PRC we did the bowl blending, hand finishing and valve job , flow testing and final assy in house.

Now with that said, I am simply saying the heads are FFHP heads, we just out source the CNC work. The CNC work at PRC is sweet and the guys at TSP rock, so this not a bash, just a clarification.

So, the PRC heads that TSP sells are really "Racetech Speed & Performance" heads then right??

no, TSP and Racetech work together to produce PRC heads

the cnc work is only half the job it takes to produce good flowing heads, if our bowl blending and valve job sucked and the heads did not perform would PRC be ok with me callling them PRC heads?

In the business world small compaines out source work all the time, I just happen to be up front about it(not that others aren't).

I'm going to ask a question that scares the **** outta me regarding my PRC heads? What is bowl blending and how important is it after the CNC work is done. If it is what i think it is I will loose it and go nuts. I just hope you're not talking about when you smooth out where the runner hits the bowl.

Wayne, I really think if you hit 400, not over but just hit 400 you need to be in the hall of fame! What you failed to make more obvious is the cam, the fricken hot cam man. I bet if the ppl up top seen that, the replies would be more conservative, like 390 at best. How many ppl dynoed a hot cam at or over 400? None?

Blending and bowl work, your not thinking because of all the untouched areas on your heads are you????
