My bad, should of gave more info.

Stock cube LS1, N/A, Patriot Performance Stage 2 5.3 heads (I think they flow around 296-300cfm @.600)...

Does a bigger split in duration help with compression?

Actually it is the opposite. A higher SCR will help a bigger split.
But really you should find which of the cams you mentionned that has the best DCR (Dynamic Compression Ratio) and use that one.

How do I do that? The cams I listed are the options I've narrowed down for a custom cam.
