Default Do I need to have my heads milled?

I removed my stock LS6 heads and will be putting them on a new shortblock. They had the MLS gaskets and I'll be using a new set of MLS gaskets when I reinstall them. How important is it to have the heads milled for cleanup?

Its not required. All you have to do is clean them real well so the new gaskets seal. A plastic scraper is whats recomended to use on the stuborn parts that cant come off. A little bit of brake cleaner might help as well. You can have them milled a little if you want more compression. Today I payed $80 for a local shop to mill my heads because one of them was a bit scared/scuffed from something.
