Default Buzzing Noise In The Engine...help!

Hi, I just bought a WS6 Trans Am, so this is all new to me. I opened the hood and started the car up. After about 10 sec I started to hear a buzzing sound, or ticking noise. If I sat in the car I could hear it a little, and out the exhaust I could hear it. So I shut it off, started it up, and it was gone. The other day, I start it up and its back, but went away after about 10 sec of beeping. Im not sure what it is. I asked the pervious owner and he said it was normal, that everyone was experiencing that noise. Is that true? Any way to cure it? Its hard to describe the noise, so I hope someone has heard the same thing. Like a ticking, vibrating, buzzing, tapping like noise. Thanks
