They say good for .600" max lift, but if you take the installed height of 1.800" and subtract the coil bind of 1.085" you get .715" then figure in a .060-.075" safety margin you get .655"-.640" max lift or am I not figuring in enough before coil bind on the beehives

I am just looking for the best possible spring I can get for my LS1, the camshaft will be around .600" lift and I haven't decided on a crane, comp or cam motion yet

The cam being run should drive the spring choice. For me , I'm running a 224/224 .563/.563 112LSA cam. 918's are MORE than adequate with their .600 lift capability, and there is less unsprung valvetrain mass with the beehive (and titanium retainers).
My friend has a cheater cam with .608? lift on the intake. 918's didn't seem to be a good choice for that one (he had probs with upper RPM valve float), so he went PRC dual springs. The springs are heavier and will thus put more pressure on the valvetrain components, lifters, etc. That's the tradeoff.

My friend has a cheater cam with .608? lift on the intake. 918's didn't seem to be a good choice for that one (he had probs with upper RPM valve float), so he went PRC dual springs. The springs are heavier and will thus put more pressure on the valvetrain components, lifters, etc. That's the tradeoff.

Something else to look at as well is the Cranes are dual springs if you want the piece of mind in case one breaks. Other than that, if your running a cam with 600+ lift, I would choose the Cranes over the 918's. I would also factor in more safty margin than .60-.75 for coil bind as well. as a side note, I run 832's with my Trex just fine at install height of 1.770.
