Just been lookin at the LS1 to LS6 head/cam conversion and was wondering what length pushrods would be needed? since the newest LS6 heads have longer lightweight valves and the cam has a smaller base circle, Would the 2 combined balance each other out and allow the use of the stock length pushrod, or would a shorter pushrod be required?

you mean putting LS6 heads and cam into a LS1? then yeah stock p-rods are the same

Yea, exactly
ok cool thats what my thinking would be too. i was just curious if anyone knew for sure what the stock LS6 pushrod length was offhand.

i'm in the same situation.

would it be of any use to change out the pushrods if i'm doing the same conversion? I've been told as long as i'm switching to an ls6 cam, i should go with stronger 7.400 pushrods while i'm at it.

Ive also have been told and have also read that if you want to put in the LS6 cam you want to go with a longer push rod.

Only if you use LS1 valves, then you want a 7.425
(actualy 7.427, but they don't make those off the shelf)

If you are doing:

LS6 heads/valves + LS6 cam > stock or 7.40 aftermarket
LS6 heads/valves + Ls1 cam > 7.375 aftermarket
LS1 heads/valves + LS6 cam > 7.425 aftermarket

Well, my car is stock and all i'm doing is the ls6 cam and appropriate springs. But i can't find 7.425 anywhere. Any suggestions?

What about LS1 heads/valves + CompCam, Futral or TSP camshaft
BTW, on another thread someone measured 2002 stock pushrods at 7.395 - 7.398, not 7.38.

I saw this thread also. When I called comp cams the other day, I was told stock pushrods are 7.400. I hear different answers to this question all the time.

i just measured 5 pushrods from a 2000 z28 with 12k miles on them and they averaged 7.394-7.398 i would say they are about 7.395-7.4 brand new.these are stock pushrods.stockers are no 7.380 thats all i know.

7.45 might be a little long, 2002 and up LS6 cams have a 19mm base circle compared to the stock LS1's 19.7 Base circle. difference = .7mm = .0276"
this is why people suggest the 7.425's if you have LS6 cam w/ stock LS1 heads.

That would be too much.
The LS6 cam is only .03x smaller in the base cirle.

I did alot of research on this when I put my z06 cam in, and everyone I talked to including the tech guys at scoggins dickey said to use the 7.45 inch pushrods.. They use to sell a Z06 conversion kits that came with cam, springs and 7.45 inch pushrods. I have been running these for over a year at the track and daily driving, shifting at well over 6k and no problems.
