Default FMS F13 Owners: How's it drive down low???

I'm looking hard at the F13, and before taking the plunge, I just have a few questions: How's it run down low, say 1200 to 1800. I know when I get it up above 2 grand it's gonna be fine, but I'm concerned about how it'll drive in traffic. I don't want to hate the cam in 2 months, because it dogs at 1200-1500... I also know it won't really be worth it to upgrade to the F13 if I choose something a little smaller, like one of the many 224s out there, so I want to get it right the first time.

You can see from my Loudmouth and SLP LT Mods that noise isn't a problem, it's part of the goal...

if that's your concern, go with F10, great cam, you will only have slight bucking getting off throttle <1500rpm (as in tooling toward a stoplight). other than that it's perfectly normal to about 3500rpm and then it screams until 7k.

I dont not have the F13 cam and have no experience with it, but I have seen and heard alot of good things about the driveability of this cam. It is supposedly one of the best and most calm acting cams of its size..

If you are concerned about low end power get the F13 112lsa +4... I made 420 rwtq (SAE) with it and 350 rwtq at just 2300rpm. It was a stump puller with all my other mods. Tuning will be the answer for any drivability issues you have...

i'm having serious doubts about this 350rwtq@2300rpm... 3200rpms sounds more probable, even though that's still a lot. so is it a typo or a really good tune?

You will not be disappointed with the F13. It is a very drivable, but what do I know? I only have a daily driven A4 with an F13, 4000 stall, 3:73's and bolt ons. As stated before the tune will be key for your drivability. This cam is more drivable than my TR220 was!

I have the 112+4 and I can lug it around @ 1000rpm, no problem.

Too bad, it did... actually is was 2385rpms I do not know what you mean by a "good" tune??? I am willing to lean on it and I understand that if it pops, I did it. I am getting no KR and the block has 28,000 miles on it. Heck the cam I am using now hit 350rwtq (SAE) at 2760rpm and it is made to be rev'd, 114lsa+1 (dyno-graph in sig).

The F13 came on harder and earlier but died off sooner, no mystery there. This is my fifth cam this year and the F13 was the best street/road cam I have used.

Here is the dyno-graph from the F13, 340rwtq by 2300rpms, 350 at 2385. Holds it until 3600 and then starts to climb...

I got the F13 in my ride. I don't drive it everyday but it is very drivable. I'd have to say for the power it creates there is no substitute! If you got a A4 and are worried about low end drivability or bucking down-low get a 114LSA and a good tune. Like it was said before a good tune will make or break the drivablility of a cam car no matter what the size is.

Default Sweeeeet!

Thanks, guys. I do have an M6, so I wasn't worried too much about buckin at the lights; I'll enjoy puttin' the clutch in a lettin' folks hear the lope. It's just the sensation of winding up really slowly when you engage 1st and 2nd in slow traffic that I was trying to avoid. The first time I felt it was after loading the Predator tune. Even though it felt a little sluggish winding up at low rpm, the dyno showed at the least the same torque and hp. It added almost 30 rwhp at the top end and the Power Band moved way up even with a stock cam. (So if you haven't had a tune, and you're debating whether to get a tuner, I can whole heartedly recommend the Predator based on my results! I got mine from SLP, and there was some marketing crap about it installing a custom SLP spark advance, but it's probably just the standard Predator program... who cares...) It is a great sensation to feel it pulling harder and harder all the way up to 5500, though, and it sounds just like a NASCAR with the LTs and Loudmouth.

I'm convinced now that with a good tune, the F13 112+4 will be just what the speed Dr ordered.

You should hear the FM13 @ 6500 rpm with LTs and open cutouts...

What springs did you have put on with the F13, and how noisy are they, how many miles on 'em, etc.?

I do the above once a week!! You will love this cam, and as others have stated, a good tune will make all the difference in the world. I DD this f13 m6, and it gives me no problems, other than having to always look out for the law.
I even have the stock 3.42's still, but i know 4.10's is what this cam really needs. Good luck.

SideStep- those numbers are very nice!

After spending a lot of time tuning, the perceived difference in low end torque and drivability between my f13 and the stock cam is very small. Although I do have 4.10s to help this out. I love this cam.

Sounds good; you can see that 4.10 gears and a new clutch are going in right behind the F13. I'm so psyched...

Yeah, I'd also like to know this...

... also, with this cam, do you have to routinely change out springs... like every 20k or so?
