Default Motor Thoughts.

With 80k on motor (runs great) where should I go from here on mods? I want a streetable car but don't have alot of funds to spend in the future (alot more saving up time) Forged bottom and new heads, stroker kit andport/polish/valve kit stock heads, or get a Z06 crate motor?

Dude, sorry but you gotta at least narrow it down first. You just covered the whole gammit. If you aint got much funds I definately wouldn't build a stroker. Maybe go with a forged bottom end 346. You're gonna hear guys say "it aint much more to build a stroker" i know I was one of them til I built one. You gotta remember to order the internal stroker parts is one thing.....then you gotta get all the little thinks to complement the stroker. It adds up a lot. I'd go with the forged bottom end 346 if I were you and spend the extra dough you woulda spent on the stroker on some good upgrades. A lot of guys would rather have the high revin 346 anyway. I had a stroker and its still a toss up for me. But if I had to do one on this car, I think Id build a bullet proof 346.

Yeah thats a pretty wide playing field.. It all depends on what you want out of the car. If you just want a quick street/track car then just do a set of Stage 2 heads, good sized cam, with all the supporting mods.. (headers, ypipe, catback, intake, etc)..

Yeah I've tossing the ideas around as to how far to take it. I definitely understand the gammit ideas but on the other hand if I'm within a $1000 dollars of a stroker vs a bulletproof 346 then isnt worth the time to save. I really like the short block forge prices and I'm just trying to get a feel of what I'm up against price wise from dudes who have already done, like yourselves. You guys know what it takes and to let me know that, I appreciate it. I just want a bulletproof setup that I can drive and hit 11s everyonce in a while at the track.

Well if thats what you want then a forged 346 is what ya want. I got a couple friends going 11's with just an average cam and some heads. 11.7's ta boot.

Nice, I believe I really can't beat the price of the forged bottom with a nice set of heads and a mild cam, then a converter call it a day.
