Default Which cam to go with?????????????

I will be picking my HOSS up this coming weekend and will be going with the AFR heads 205's or 225's and just using the stock shortblock for now. What cam should I go with using these heads? I want street manners as well but I want something that perform's very well in hp's numbers 450+...Its a 6sp car...

My last car was a ball's out drag race car but I just want to calm down this time on this car and stay street only!!!!

Thanks for the info!!!!!

The usuals would be the F13/F14 from Futral, 233/239 REV2 from TSP, G5x2 from LG, etc... Should be able to make 430+ with any of those cams rather easily and still have good street manners. Lots of choices out there. But, the Search button is your friend.

I did a install last week with a set of Absolute Speed stage 2.5 LS6 heads and a 234/238 595/602 114+4 cam fast 90/90 SLP LT's, 19"rims and tires, and it made 470 in are hot nasty *** weather in Fla.
We did flycut the pistons and mill the heas .040 for added compression and ran a .045 gasket. The results were nice, but can be done with a better head and smaller cam.
Look into the 224/228 cam Tony from AFR used on his corvette that made 480.
I doubt you will achieve those numbers but 450 can defentially be made using that cam. You wont have to flycut, your driveability will be awsome and you might even get lucky and get away with stock injectors but dont count on it.

Badz,

AFR 205, cometic .040, mill 60cc and AFR 224/228 cam # 6016 0n a 114+1

You'll get the 430 for sure if degreed and professionaly tuned.
PM Tony Mamo (he made over 480 with his set up), so 430 shouldn't be too hard.

No flycut.

Jeff,

My setup is pretty close to what you want. Very streetable and still running cats and y-pipe with excellent ground clearance. See details the the signature.
