Default which cam for afr 205 in a A4

Yes i know, use the search button, but i still need a little more info.I'm thinking of getting some afr 205 heads but i don't know which cam to go with.I want a cam that will give me the most power without sacrificing ANY drivebality whatsoever. My car is driven everyday.i was thinking of going with the f13 cam or magic stick, but of course i would like to get some opinions from you guys, keep in mind that the cam has to be very streetable. Also i want a cam that i don't have to flycut pistons or anything like that. Please let me know guys. Thanks in advance

If you want absolutely no sacrifices in driveability along with the most power you can get, you cannot go wrong with AFR's dyno proven cam:

Comp 224/228 .581/.588 114LSA (+1) XE-R lobes. It will give you lots of top end power and will give you sweet street manners. Proven to perform by many, many users running AFR 205s.

most of the sponsors can order it for you. Look in the sponsors sale forum and see if there are any specials.

This cam isn't too much bigger than your T1, it will have good manners.

Ideally, you want to mill your AFR 205s to around 60-61cc (a .030" mill will do this) and run a Cometic .045" gasket (for best quench). This will put your static compression a little over 11 to 1. AFR has these 224/228 114LSA cams in stock or you can have a vendor like Thunder Racing have Comp grind it for you. Just make sure it's ground on a 113 intake centerline.

Call me at AFR....We have the cam in stock Patrick G has mentioned (which would be my choice as well if you really want something with stock like driving manners and good all around power). I might be able to guide you in the right direction on the entire package.

Since stock heads are enough for the F-14, I would expect the AFR 205s to be MORE than enough, LOL.

what other supporting valvetrain work like Springs or something that might be neededwould you recommend since it has good power from 3-7K

I would prefer the F14 but I may settle for the F13 jsut want to see which would be better off

The springs that come stock on the AFR 205s will handle the F-13 or F-14 with no problem. The heads won't limit the ability to run either cam. The static compression, tune, and tolerance for driveability issues are bigger determining factors to whether you'll enjoy the F-14 or not. A bad tune will make you hate that cam. A good tune will make you love it.

Well according to Futural: "Hydraulic roller cams in "LS" Gen III engines typcially experience valve float at 6600-6800 RPM's. If you plan on running over .600 gross valve lift and/or 6600 RPM, AFR suggests you upgrade your springs to AFR part #8014. Our upgrade spring has higher seat and open pressures (145/380+) to better reduce the risk of valve float in more aggressive applications. "

This is why I ask
