Default Who has good prices on shortblocks?

I figured I'd post this in here since the internals guys are the ones who keep most up to date on what's going on (engines-wise). I'm open to many suggestions now as my second block has now been screwed. Turns out a piece of a broken valve from the stock engine got sucked up and stuck in the damn intake manifold somehow which was then transferred over to the new engine and... yep, just my luck, new motor is scarred up. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't already bored .060 over At any rate, who has the best specials/prices on new shortblocks now? I remember a while back SDPC was giving real good deals on LS2 402's, but I'm pretty sure that's over now. I'm looking for something in the 402, 408 area that can handle a large cam (mid 240's duration). I'd even consider a forged 347 if it could handle a fairly large cam. My main concern is money right now though. I'm willing to spend somewhere around 3500-4000(max), I just need a damn engine that I don't have to worry about anymore.

I got my SB from texas speed $3100 no cores. Stock crank, mahle pistions, crower rods, 347ci. So far so good we will see how it likes the blower in 3 weeks. I know you said you were leaning tward a bigger cubed motor, just another option.

HPE's shortblocks are very nicely priced. Give them a call, their site doesnt have the correct Fbod/engine pricing information.

APE!!!

Seriously though, get ahold of Nick @ Victory racing, he'll take good care of you, I know him personally for several years now, and I can vouch that he's a good guy.

Wow, looks like FFHP has some badass deals going on right now. I'll give em a call and see what they have to say.

Mike94 - wanna shoot me the number for Victory? I wanna give em a call also if they're high quality and reliable (most importantly).

I'd stick with reputable people, like FFHP, Combination, HPE, LME, FMS, Etc.

Victory spawned off of APE. I wouldn't trust my money there until they have been in business for a while, with a good reputation following them.
(Please do not turn this into an APE/Victory thread)

Either way, FFHP looks like it has the best prices thus far, although I really do like HPE's rep. I'll be giving both a call tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up, but I wouldn't really be comfortable with an engine ringed loose like that for a 200 shot of nitrous. I'm trying to keep things as tight as possible (and least margin of error) in this new engine. Plus, I'm pretty set on the big cubes... I just can't help it
