Default Can I use 7.3 pushrods on LS6 heads?

Can I use 7.3 pushrods with LS6 heads unmilled on a 99 LS1 block. I am installing a comp cam 224/224 581/581. Do I need to stick with the 7.4 pushrods instead of the 7.3..........The LS6 heads were produce in 03....and if i use the 7.3 pushrods will I have a powerloss or will it screw up my valvetrain? I will use stock lifters.

Thanks for your responses.

I use them. My heads are milled .30 w/ a G5X2, and stock lifters.

I think 7.300" would be short.......I think you need to get some 7.400" pushrods.......

do you have LS6 "heads" (ie: valves also?) or just LS6 castings?

the LS6 and most aftermarket cams are smaller than the LS1 cam.......the LS6 valves were made longer to make up for this (so they still use stock length valves)........even if you have the LS6 valves, those 7.300" pushrods are ~0.050" shorter than they should be on an unmilled head.....with LS1 length valves you would need ~0.100" milled off (which is WAY more than stock heads can take).....

The LS6 heads have the LS6 valves... So shorter pushrods would make for less power? or just screw up my valvetrain? Thanks again for all the respones.

they will probubly never preload the lifter........you will just rattle the pushrod around...it will damage the "cup" of the lifter and rocker and COULD fall out.....at a very min you will have lots of noise.........

get some 7.400" pushrods.........

exactly......so that cancels out the fact that he has a small base circle cam.....but he is still 0.100" short on the pushrods.......
