Default bolts vs. studs?

Have a quick ? about main caps. I realize that studs are recommended, just a question, probably stupid, but do you use a nut to tighten the caps down? Thanks

Yes. the stud is screwed into the block and put the caps on and then nuts secure the cap. FYI, the reason studs are better than bolts is when you torque down bolts it twists into the block and has multiple "stress" areas because of this action. Studs on the other hand are stationary and pretty much only gets "pulled" on by the nut when its torqued down. This is a more precise torque and is stronger to boot.
