Default LS1 vs LS6 valley covers

I plan on getting an LS6 intake soon and will be replacing my knock sensors at the same time. Should I look into getting an LS6 valley cover? What are the differences between the two? This may sound like a dumb question, but will stock replacement knock sensors work with the LS6 valley cover? Thanks.

Checkout http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=18 i wouldnt change to ls6 valley cover unless u have oil consumption problems even then i read people converting to LS6 type and still have oil consumption problems. Also ur knock sensors should work fine. I picked up a 04 Z06 motor for my 98z cant wait to get it running hopefully this week. I bought a Z06 intake from GMpartsdirect.com paid 388 came with new gaskets not too bad although it did take 2 weeks to get.

I converted mine when I did my heads. It was cheap $65 bucks so why not while you have it apart. It is alot better designed PCV system. I never had oil consumption issues to start with and have not had any since the conversion. I didn't have to grind any on my block either. Mine came with an LS6 block from the factory.

I had consumption problems from the factory and did the ls6 valley cover, and a catch can and have had no problems since. I put a gas filter inline and change it when oily. Ive ran thousands of miles since and have had 0 issues.
I never have oil in the catch can, I even put a drain in the greddy can i purchased upon installation and have yet to use it.

I do have some oil consumption issues, so while doing the heads/cam I upgraded to the LS6 cover. We will see how much it helps, but I say its well worth the $65. And yes your knock sensors will work fine.

I did not have to grind my block. I was happily surprised. My car was built in late 2000, so I got the 2001 block.
