The only NECESSARY things are:

Cam
springs (retainers also depending if they require larger than stock)
crank bolt

That's all you really need to do a cam swap, also the motor oil and coolant, but that's a no-brainer. If your car is a '98, you will also need new water pump gaskets. You can re-use your valve cover gaskets, timing cover gasket, and front main seal if you are careful with them when re-installing everything.

I'd get a new front cover gasket and waterpump gaskets.
Might get some valve cover gaskets too, its all cheap.

Get a basic cam install gasket, you can reuse some gaskets, but for the extra peice of mind i chose to pay 50 bucks to get a kit that had all the gaskets and a new crank bolt. Also might want to look into a new O-ring for your oil pump. I got one when I was doing mine and the original looked beat to **** compared to the new one.

You can re-use those gaskets, I don't think the '99 models came with the paper material gaskets. Good luck with the cam swap. Let me know if you need any help.

Just check out the cam swap article on www.ls1howto.com

Not only do they show the whole procedure, they also provide a parts list.
