Default Who sells the best combo of price/quality for a forged short block?

I'm going FI and looking to make 450-500 hp to the rear wheels and need info on who sells the best combination of price and quality in a forged short block.

Looking to make 475-500 to the rear wheels. Who makes the best combination of quality and affordability for a forged short block?

im curious about the lingenfelter one, since it's around 2K, which seems fairly cheap.

You dont need a forged shortblock with those power levels. A good tune is all that is needed for anything under 520 rwhp or so.

It all depends on what parts you use. Stock crank will be fine for those power levels IMO. Id say if you look around really good you can get it done for 2250 to 2700. Depends on what you use.

for that power level stock ls1 would be fine. just swap out the heads to lower the cr. im pretty much at the boarder of what ur lookin at on a completely stock ls1.

The Lingenfelter forged 346 is closer to $4K by the time you do it right (rods, etc).

You don't need anything special for under 500 rwhp.

On the dyno for the first time after my turbo was installed the rings went bad and my tuner said your phucked and need a forged bottom end. My bad luck.

On the dyno the first time after installation of my TTI T76 street kit my rings went back at around 460 hp and my tuner basically said your dead in the water and need a forged bottom end. My bad luck!

You can hit 500hp easilly enough on the stock shortblock but if you want it stronger,just a set of pistons and rod bolt's would be needed for up to 600rwhp
But most here see bigger #'s in the future so they upgrade the rods too

Futral is a great source, they'l build one with your block and crank for around $2600 if I remember right....

For those kind of power levels it should be a pretty basic short block. I have a extra boost shortblock at the machine shop now, shoot me a IM & I'll get ya pricing

for a forged 346 with no cores from HPE they quoted me $2500 and thats assembled and balanced and shipped.
