226 114 - Will it pass?
I am thinking of trying to get by emissions with the F4 cam. Seeing how easy some people have passed with the 224 114 I dont see why this cam should not pass. Curious to hear your guy's opinions on this cam as far as my chances of passing emissions here in California. Do I have a chance you think?
I really want to put a some what "big" cam in my car, but I dont want to go with the 224 114 cam. I want something a little bigger, I would love to able to go with the F4 instead.
My goal in the future is get some stage 1 or most likley stage 2 heads. If my budget permits I would also like to throw a 100 shot on top of all that...well maybe.
I know that this got moved to the Western Section, but I really want to hear everyone else's opinions as well on this...Is that cool mods?
Thanks guys

When will Commiefornia move to kill the sniffer test? Most all states have gone to the oBD-2 test were they just plug into your computer and test for tripped codes....
NY failed me EVERY year on the sniffer with a 220/220, 560.560, 112 until this year when the PCM test was imployed ....NO problem for me now!

Your 220 has a -4* overlap at .050.
So sniff passing should have been Ok.
You need a zero to negative overlap with less than 226/225 intake duration and an excellent tune with fresh cats.
It should have passed

Thanks for all help I appreciate it.
If I decide to go with the 226 I will have to put the stock exhaust back on. Would that help with the sniffer? having the stock crap on?
Cause I really dont have any other choice as far as that goes, I went with an ORY instead of a catted y. Would it be a wise choice to sell the ory and buy a catted one? Then try to get them to over look the visual part? Or just put the stock manifolds on instead when I get tested.

I talked to one of the performance shops in Nor Cal. According to them, they have gotten a 226/226 112 LSA cam to pass the sniffer without much of a problem with there tuning.

Put the stock exhaust including headers and cats back and the original GM tune and you will surely pass with that cam.
However, I would investigate any plans by Commifornia to eliminate the sniffer for 96 and newer cars. All the states are doing this and it is a bunch easier to pass. The states like it since it is easier to administer. Who can argue with a computer?

Alright cool, thanks again!
I guess I got to call around the shops where I live and just go from there.
If Cali got rid of the sniffer for 96 plus cars I would seriously **** myself

They have also had 230/232 113 LSA cams pass, so that would likely be fine if you had a really good tune.
