PLease HELP! pinging noise at 1600rpm stop then at 2k PLEASE HELP alright, i just got a new motor about 3 months ago and runs pretty well after a dyno tune. now the exhaust manifold gasket was loose, put in a new one. car ran smoother but i started hearing a pinging noise soon after. from about 1600, then stops, then again at 2000 and then get less pronounced but builds as i get higher in the rpm. now the car is a little jerky and it smells like a little bit of gas when i open the hood. now this noise is stronger when its more humid and colder. early mornings and late nights. you think an exhaust leak can cause pinging? if so why is it more in that rpm range.? any help is appreciated.
