Default stock pushrod length?????

I got a 98 z-28 and bent half the pushrods on a missed shift. I have tried to order new ones twice and have been given the wrong length both times. I been told it is 7.4". Does anyone know???

Try 7.38". That's why you frequently have to buy aftermarket 7.40" when you install an after market cam, due to the smaller base circle.

7.40 will work on stock motors. Your preload will increase by .02 but that is still well within the acceptable range of the stock lifters.

Seems like there was a thread about two months ago, stock PR's removed from 98 Z and were measured at 7.40.

Wel as you said yourself, you had variations in 1 set.
I measured one from my 01 and it was 3.84
So we can conclude that they range from 3.8x> 3.9x (must depend on where they were made or since they are not hardened, that they stretch.)

yeah they must have been made in a different plant or something.you can see the variations in the tips of the pushrods that makes one longer then the other.the hole n some of them is off center a little bit making it a hair longer.I bet when they are installed the height difference has much less variation.you will see what i am talking about if you really look close at the tips.

you're best off getting a tool and measure the actual length you need, just rent one from autozone or something, you gotta tear the car apart anyways right? The stock pushrods are weak and were all machined to one size so they could have been shorter or longer than being perfect.
