Default Pre-cam suggestions

Well, lets just say i might be getting a cam, perhaps maybe a Trex, what other things would you all suggest getting to support it other than something extreme like a 9" because that will come later. I would be going with the package from thunder racing along with the cam that includes cam gaskets, Crane Cams 144832-16 Valve Springs, Crane Cams 144661 Titanium Retainers, Crane Cams 144460-16 Hardened Seats, 11-VS-UV5001-EO Valve Stem Seals, Thunder Racing Stock Length Pushrods (7.400). Basically the dual spring package they offer. Would it benefit to upgrade to the comp cam stuff, doesn't seem like its worth the money unless i'll be upgrading more which spray will come later on but probably not for a year. Thanks guys, just pondering!

a 9" will help if you go to the track a lot. you're probably going to need some gears though. 4.11's maybe.

Yeah, keep in mind that if you go w/ the trex it will feel kinda soggy on the low end w/ stock gearing.

Thinking also about calling alan at futral about an fm14 or a variation of it with a custom grind from him also. Think that would be better? Especially since alan's cams seem to make almost as much power as the bigger cams do.

Keep in mind the T-rex was designed to be an all out max effort drag race cam that was meant to be shifted on the other side of 7k. If your not gona rev to motor out to its full potential its best to get something less aggressive.

agreed.

fms cams make great power, less duration at .050, and have awesome TQ curves for the most part...

the trex is like stang killer said, you need to rev the bitch to get full benifit. the MS3 makes the power a little lower however...

You'll be happy with whatever you get. With gears/clutch or converter/gears (whatever you have) you'll be happy..
