Default oil pump

I just got it in today. Is there any thing i need to measure in it? The instructions say to check the gap between thefront cover and the pump. What all does that mean? The gears seem to be really loose inside there. Is that normal?

You Have To Prime Them And That Will Take Up The Slack. Just Make Sure The Pump Is The Same Thicken As The Old One. Watch The O-ring For The Pick Up Tube When Installed

Just got off the phone with SLP and he said not to use the shims that came with the double roller chain!! He also said that these shims for the oil pump was built onto the pump.
