Default Who built your 408?

My factory motor went south at the track. I am looking to buy a 408 this winter. How much hp and tq are you putting down? What size cam are you running? The car is not a daily driver either. I have done a ton of searches.

FFHP is building mine, obvisouly no dyno #'s yet but will soon come. The cam is a custom grind cam, 244/248 .612/.615 113lsa. Im thinking maybe around 475hp NA and 600hp or more on the jug. The CR is right at 10.7-1, & topping it off is a set of Patriot Stage III LS6 heads. If you do a search you'll find the flow #'s I posted.

the FAST 90/90 is the setup to run now, unless youwant to go with a carb style setup.

Zmnypit, that cam and a half decent set of heads should put you over 475 no problem.

On a motor that does not see over 7000rpm with a hydraulic cam I'd definately stay with the fast 90/90 combo. Now if you've got a solid with .700" and up lift and over 7500 rpm now we're talking carb intake

I'd build it myself and use the money I saved not having a shop assemble it for me to buy the best internals possible. Buy a new 6.0 ltr block and a Lunati Pro Billet rotating assembly and find a good machine shop to do the balancing, get a cam and a good set of heads and put it together.

HPE built mine. It actually just arrived. I went with them because of recommendations and talked with Erik for a while, who definitely knows his sh*t. HPE also does their own machining/building in shop, which not many others do. It's all up to you, I just felt most comfortable with them.

Your set up is just about the same as mine, what kind of power does it make?

i think the fast 90/90 still outflows the carb intake. i could be wrong though. i saw some magazine build up an iron block 402 w/ a huge turbo and said they originally put the carb intake on w/ efi but got better results with the fast 90/90.

My heads have 62cc chambers. The pistons are -15cc. I plan on spraying the motor & didnt want a real high CR. I know there have been guys sprying on 11.3/11.5-1 but I didnt even want to think about doing that. Not saying its a bad thing. Plus, I could always have the heads milled if I want to change it up a bit.

I'm using a custom Futral 244/248 .635/.627 112 +4 cam. However, my money tree was recently cut down, so I'm using the stock 6.0 heads from my old 375 engine.

Wen both are ported properly there is no comparison, especially in the higher lifts areas where any lsx style manifold really limits the true potential of a head. I think you're right about the gmpp intake though, I believe the fast is superior up to about the .550" or so area, then it's all gmpp.
