Default 5.3 Truck heads/good for my setup?

I have a 393ci LS6 motor with a 4.00" stroke and 3.955" bore (the bore number is comming from memory, what ever it take to get a 4.00" stroke to a 393ci).

The motor has a set of 6.0l heads on it that are junked (someone ported them before I had the car). Between the big combustion chambers and the crappy port job, they arent going it for my car. It made 406rwhp and 382ft lbs with a 228/230 571/573 cam. This is all on a perfect tune so the car is obviously not making the power it should be.

My question is I have a chance to get some completely stock, assembled 5.3l truck heads. Would it be a wise decision to get these and send them off to someone to be ported? With my small bore (for a stroker) I know Im limited. I dont want a crazy dyno queen or to break any records, just to get the car closer to where it should be with its current mods.

Thanks for any help in advance!!

I would upgrade the cam along with it. If you have that many cubes, your under cammed.

Shouldnt be a problem as long as the person doing the work on the heads know what theyre doing.

317 heads have huge 72cc combustion chambers and low compression, and are made for a 4 inch bore. i say mill the 5.3 heads and have them ported for increased compression, the cam is not completely too small, but u could pick up more top end it seems like with a bigger one
