Default just got a set 6.0L 317 Aluminum Heads

I just got a set of 6.0L 317 Aluminum Heads. What if anything should I do to them before bolting them up to my 98 vett motor. The motor is in a ultima with a single turbo. I was thinking about just putting in springs. Anything else I should do? What head gasket should I use?

thanks,
mark

I thought the stock 317 had smaller valves?

i measured the valve sizes in my LQ9 heads b4 i sent them out. They were 2.00/1.55,which is stock.besides springs,if you want the motor to rev a bit faster use Titanium retainers....and Viton seals are a good choice for no leaks.

Change the springs and slap 'em on. Will will need new valve covers though because the AL 317's don't have perimeter vc bolts like the 97-98 ls1's.

You've got a bad little car there!!!! That thing is going to be killer on the street!

I had to use 6.0L head gaskets on mine. I also swapped to LS6 valves and 918's. Mine are also milled to get back to the stock compression ratio.

Are they brand new heads or used? And yes, GM 6.0 head gaskets are going to be needed so you don't shroud the larger combustion chamber... but it also increases quench which increases chances for detonation.

heads are used got them off ebay. They come with valve covers, so it sounds like all I should do is swap the springs + get a 6.0 head gasket. Does it matter what year head gasket I get + are there different kinds

Since they are used, I would send them to TEA for refreshing.
Otherwise you'll never know if you have good guides/seals straight valves etc...I would not use LS6 valves in a turbo set up.
You could even get a CNC job on them and get a little more flow.

Quick Reply: just got a set 6.0L 317 Aluminum Heads
