Default Head Gasket Thickness

What is the smallest head gasket thickness that anybody has used? i know they recomend to have about .035 from piston to head clearance but would like to know if anybody has tried to use thinner gaskets? or what's the thinest gasket used and still be ok.

For the street a .040 is about the smallest I would use. That of course is relative to your piston to deck measurement which can vary from .005 to .008 on stock motors (on average)
Basicaly .035>/040 quench for street and I've seen as low as .027 track

Thanks, the pistons pop ou of the deck .007 and I was going to use cometic head gaskets .030 but I think that's cutting it to close overall clearance of .023? I have .040 cometics also so i'll go with thoes.
