Default Turbo Cam

I have been reading and came to the conclusion that a turbo setup with stock heads and a cam is sufficiant enough.I going to get the STS Turbo in a couple of months and wanted to know if i get the cam right now will i see any significant gains in hp or should i just wait till i get the turbo to get the cam done.

almost any cam you put into the LS1 will give it a new attitude. GM made our cam soooo passive. Even if you just get an LS6 cam you'll notice a slight gain. If you get a new cam though make sure to get strengthened pushrods, just make sure to get the right length, the stock length might not be right for you, so measure it correctly before you order some. And just call comp or a cam shop and tell them what you are looking for and what you have, they will be able to tell you what cam you want. The stock heads are fine but if you get a turbo you'll want it to breath better. It will add power just the same, but you'll get even more with a LS6 intake, bigger throttle body, MAF, and at least a set of LS6 heads. Headers are always a plus but won't give you as much of a gain with the turbo installed, You'll already have backpressure from the turbo so don't get too wild with headers, maybe shorty's or mid-lengths will do good. You'll really be livin' then

From what I understand in turbo applications you should not go as aggressive on the cam as in an NA application. Especially in regards to the overlap.
Make sure you do your homework.

In general,
For blowers standard splits are better and for turbos reverse with wide lsa, the wider and less overlap the better.
Like my Stealth II 224/220, .581/.581 116 lsa+0

So less agressive cam would be better also will porting my heads do me any good or should i consider getting the better heads.

Pick up a LS6 cam. Dont want a radical cam with a turbo.

does it matter what year the LS6 cam is.If it does which one is better

But a cam with added lift will fair better since you are changing cams anyways.

Porting isn't going to have as much of an effect on a turbo car. Polishing the exhaust side real real (micro) smooth though will definitely help.
