Default Help on Checking Pushrods or other valvetrain parts

Well I have a ticking noise that does not go away like many people on here. This tick is there when I first start my car until I turn it off, with the only change being when I give the car gas the tick gets quicker and possibly louder. I want to check my pushrods and other things in the valvetrain first to see if this is my problem, but how can I go about doing this and what shoud I look for? The noise was not noticeable until I put on my headers, and now it is very. Thanks in advance for any help.

Since you just installed headers, make sure you don't have an exhaust leak before you start checking the valve train. They can make very similar sounds.

Sounds like an exhaust leak.
Before you tear everything apart looking for bent or broken push rods, get an automotive stethescope so you can pin point the noise. They are cheap and I believe they sell them at autozone.
Right after header install though, sounds like exhaust.

I have checked and rechecked my exhaust, I even took the car to a local shop and they told me it was vavletrain. So that is why I am asking. So any help on checking this will be appreciated, thank you.
