Dex-cool coolant causing damage to engine?
I heard from a mechanic today that GM's dex-cool coolant has been found to cause damage to the rubber gaskets and aluminum parts it comes in contact with. Don't know how true this is so I thought I would check to see if anybody has heard this recently.

Based on my experience, if you flush the Dexcool at regular intervals (ie every 2-3 years like you would with green - not the 150k mile bullshit), use drinking water (I buy mine in gallon jugs at the grocery store), and ensure that the system doesn't have leaks the Dexcool will work just fine. I think that lots of problems come from people mixing green and pink or people using shitty water in their mix. JMHO though.

The problem is caused when air is allowed enter the cooling system when using dex-cool then corrosion kicks in fast, I flushed mine out the first week i had it and put the universal all makes all models green stuff in it just to be safe.
