Default Which heads? Which cam?

I've searched and I've searched some more. I just can't find some good threads about what heads & cam to get.

I am going to get a 3800-4000 stall convertor, so I want to know what heads & cam would compliment each other with that setup. I've heard about the AFR 205's and how good they are, but they are a lot of $$$. What would be some cost friendly heads that would compliment my convertor? What about Patriot Performance? They have some stage 1, 2 and 3 heads...how good are they? Also, what's the difference in each stages?

Tell me what heads would compliment my convertor and also what cam to match with them too. I like loopey & aggressive cams. I want a cam that will make my car sound like a beast, but still be street legal. Thanks. Give me the most economical options too!

Another vote for the AFR 205s. They are worth the money!

Do you have any sound clips of your setup? I'd like to hear a 224/228 cam. Some people aren't picky about how choppy a cam is, but I am. I like it to sound like a beast with a rough idle. What 224/228 cam do you have? I searched and I found a Comp Cams Xtreme 224/228 cam with a 112 lsa. I also found a 224/228 cam at FMS. Which would you recommend?

How would a 3800 stall convertor, AFR 205's and a 224/228 cam do? Would they all compliment each other? Is it a completed puzzle or do some pieces of the puzzle not match? I want each part to compliment each other. Also, how would that setup do on a daily driver? It that setup streetable?

Thanks guys!

AFR heads definitely, and sell your stock heads for about $800 on eBay. Here's a sound clip of my motor with AFR's and a custom Rapid Motorsports cam.

Your ideas for components are very streetable. I'd consider a H/C package from a reputable vendor who has matched his components. For example:

There's a few 224/228 sound clips I found via LS1Sounds...

224/228, 0.581/0.588 114lsa cam
Comp 224/228 nitrous cam

I don't have 6 grand right now. If I did, I'd buy it. I prolly won't have everything I want until like 3-5 years. I plan on exhaust next spring, torque convertor next summer/fall, pulley & suspension the following spring, gears and moser 12 bolt the following summer/fall, LSX 90/90 the following spring, AFR 205's the following summer/fall, cam the following spring. I wish I had the money to do everything at once.

If you can do just cam first, you'd probably get your best quick performance. If you can follow some instructions and have some tools you can do it yourself with a little help:

www.ls1howto.com

then you could do it rather affordably.

So, everyone thinks AFR 205's and a Comp Cams Xtreme 224/228 cam with a 112 lsa will work good together? Even with a 3800 stall torque convertor? I've always read, if your going N/A, go with a high stalled convertor...If going FI, go with a lower stalled convertor. Is 3800 high enough? I want each piece of the puzzle to fit, I don't want any missing pieces...meaning I want each mod to compliment each other. Thanks guys!
