yeah drill the hole straight

you can try drilling a slightly larger hole (dont eat the threads in the crank out) but straight this time then get an easy out in there to get it out. Otherwise your gonna need to take it to a machine shop to get it extracted. As far as I know there are no other ways to get it out..this is a bad place to start making mistakes like crooked holes unfortunately.

dont sweat it...just take your time and get it out. I once removed 6 bolts out of a saturn head because it was warped and all the head bolts busted. Got 'em all out..and it was my first time with an easy out...i will say this: go haead and buy some spare bits and easy outs.

You need to get something to center the drill bit.

no need to center the hole,
if you already have a hole (what size?)
there is a tool called "bolt extractor" (DUHHHH)
is like a reverse twist conical drill bit, square end like a thead tap.
to use like a theader, instead you twist it backwards (to the left) hence the bolt will come out.

try to buy a 3/8 extractor and see which is the CORRECT DRILL SIZE for that extractor and buy a couple of cobalt drills ( THE BOLT IS VERY HARD), be very carefull and deliberate with each "push" of the drill

DO NOT! DO NOT! break a cobalt drill bit inside the hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

then try to "tap" the extractor backwards (i mean to the left) , the conicity wil lodge itself inside the bolt and then will begin to drag the bolt towards out!
thats why the hole "can" be offcenter, crooked, BUT VERY ROUND!!!!
GOOD LUCK!
