I just finished a H/C job. Ported 5.3 heads with 2.02/1.57 valves, shaved .015 and a F14 cam. P/V clearance was .080 intake and lots more on the exhaust. But as always, check it to be sure.

kinda off of the subject but ive heard that the 5.3 heads have smaller intake valves is this true if so about how much does it cost to have all of the work done for the larger valve thanks

Yes, 5.3L heads have really small intake valves. 1.89 I believe is the size. However, the cost to install 2.02/1.57 is the same as putting 2.02/1.57 valves in a LS1 head. I get a hookup on machine work since I do so many heads. However, a typical valve job, resurface, cleaning and inspecting the head should be @ $250 for the general public. The bigger valves themselves can be bought for @ $140. Personally I think that most 5.3 headed combos would benefit enough from using LS1 2.00 intake valves and leaving the stock 1.55 exhaust valve in place. Big valves are really shrouded in a 5.3L combustion chamber and need relief. Cutting big reliefs makes the CC bigger and defeats the purpose of running 5.3L heads. Plus you save $$ on not buying valves.

so what would you suggest for running 5.3l heads and a f13? and what would you say the gain would be and compared to another head of choice?

I would run a 5.3L head and keep stock LS1 valves, 2.00/1.55. I don't understand the second question. What are you trying to compare these heads to? 5.3L heads flow similiar to LS1 heads. The major difference is the 5.3's smaller combustion chamber to raise compression.

yea like what kind of power difference would there be between the 5.3l head and a 5.7l head and is the f13 made more for stock heads or is it a good match with a 5.3l head and how would it handle a 75 or 100 shot just out of curiosity
