Does LS1 300 hp equal to LT1 300hp?

300 HP is 300 Hp, the difference would be where the engines made the power. The LS1 traditionally makes its power higher in the band which would translate to a higher trap speed than the LT1. As far as which one would win i don't know.

Are you talking about advertised hp or rwhp? If you're talking advertised, the LT1s were rated properly and the LS1s were underrated. A 300 hp LT-1 puts out around 250-260 rwhp. A 300 hp LS1 puts out around 300 rwhp.
Now if you have an LT-1 and LS1 that both make 300 rwhp, then the winner in a 1/4 mile race depends on where the motors make peak power and torque and how the cars are geared. If both cars don't run much gear, the car that makes better power at lower rpm would have the advantage.
LT1s tend to make their power at lower rpm ranges so I'd probably give it the advantage. But keep in mind, a 300 rwhp LT1 has 40-50 rwhp in mods to match the stock LS1.

LS1 cant be beat? maybe you could explain how the fastest all motor f-body is a 388cube LT1 ...faster then a 413cube ls1. Both are in the 9's
both are great engines and in my mind the only difference is the material used to make the block.. iron vs aluminum... Stock for stock LS1 is superior, but once you start modding... cubes are cubes.

Cubes are not cubes as it's already been pointed out that the engines make power in different areas and the ls1 is lighter. So IF all the other components were exactly the same and both engines made 300hp then the lighter of the two would probably win (ls1) as long as we're talking about a 1/4 mile run. 1/8 mile run, the power in the lower rpm range might make a difference. Basically, you have a better starting point with an LS1 than a LT1.
If cubes were cubes, then a LS1 would be basically equivalent to a Small Block chevy that came out 50 years ago. Both are basically the same size right? But I think it's safe to say the LS1 makes more power.

The average 346 LS1 is easily put into the mid to high 11s in NA daily driver form. Even allowing for .2 - .3 for the LT1's extra weight, I didn't see many daily driver 346 LT1s in the high 11s when I went to the track.
Best thing I saw about an LT1 is parts cost. Headers and stroker kits are pretty cheap.

ive ran into some really fast LT1's before, with minimal mods and they still hold with me up until 3rd gear. i bet that if a 300 rwhp LS1 raced a 300 rwhp LT1, the LS would def. take it up top. friend has a 97 formula and it holds with me until 3rd gear, he has similar mods.

Yes I used to have a Lt1 and it seemed to get up a little better than an LS1 and that is from a dead stop. But then the ls1 would come back and get me. The LT1 I had the Min. Mods. it was about 324 rwhp and It was an auto no converter. Highway Ls1 would kill me. Thats why I bought one.

I agree with Patrick.
The LS1 has way better cylinder heads and way more plenum volume in the intake manifold.

Being "old school" makes the stroker kits so cheap.

I agree the suspension plays a big part in the times. I didnt like the Lt1 I had to replace the Opti spark and that was not cheap. I like The coils better. And easier to change plugs and wires. Lt1's are heck at this.

LT1s seem to make more torque down low, and torque falls off. hp seems pretty peaky on LT1s also
where as on stock LS1s and lots of aftermarket LS1 cams they dont have as much torque down low, but they have a much flatter and broader torque and hp curves. its not how much hp you make, its how long you make the hp.. thats why the LS1 wins

if the engines both peak 300rwhp the lt1 will win given everything else is equal.if you've ever seen hp and torque curves each motor produces different curves. ls1 curves are climbing and peak.lt1 curves climb quick and flatline.this means as mentioned some where in this thread the average hp goes to the lt1.each shift the lt1 loses maybe 50hp were as the ls1 could lose closer to 75hp.this is also why the dyno queen mustangs just don't perform. the small cubes produce very high peaky numbers.i own both and this seems to hold true with all the f-bodies we've tested.
