1) make damn sure the coils are plugged in
2) make damn sure the timing is dot to dot
3) make sure the cam sensor harness is not pinched
4) do you have spark?
5) do you have fuel?
6) go over your work, double check everything
what kind of cam, stock heads or different ones, anything change in the valvetrain

did u pull the fuel pump fues and not replace it? dont see how the grounds on the heads would have come loose if all you did was a cam swap. id pull the plug wires and reseat them again. make sure the big white connectors are fully seated on the coil packs also.

i did retard the cam 4 degrees but would that affect anything. the crank and timing chain were dot to dot-i put the crank snout into the keyway for 4 degrees retard

Well he's says says that it has spark and fuel. In an earlier post he stated that the car went to fire like the timing was messed up. If it has spark and fuel I will assume everything is connected properly. Next in line would be compresson/Valve timing.
Are you 100% sure the cam was installed correctly!!!!????????? I hope the cam isnt out of time. The noise you heard before might of been bad news. Let us know.

Sounds like a timing issue to me. When you moved the lower gear and retarded it, did the other key slots have a diffrent shape above them? Mine had a square on retard, a dot for straight up, and a triangle for advanced. Whichever slot you moved to, I would think that you would no longer be lining up "dot" to dot. It may now be "square" to dot or what not. I could be completly wrong, but I don't have a adjustable chain in front of me to look at.
