Red face LS1 w/high mileage in here, should I worry?

My 99' LS1 M6 has 120K. I got the car at 112K. It was driven by an older lady and completely stock...its not stock anymore. Doesn't seem to make funny noises. I'm only worried about the engine/tranny related stuff...important things like the Oil pump, water pump and power steering pump. I take the best of care with my car. I drive it daily and don't get on it often. I'm hearing all these things lately with blowing motors/spin bearings, rebuilts and I can not afford that as i'm a college kid.

Whats your high mileage? Problems?

If you keep internals stock, I wouldn't worry with proper maintenance.
If you have the car maintenance history you can find if timing chain/pump were changed.
If not doing it would be good.
You can do a compression and leakdown test to establish shortblock health status.

I have 126k on mine and still running strong. I did headers and cam at 112k. I may do heads next year.

If the car has had regular oil changes and been taken care of you can go for a long time. I get on mine hard still and have had no problems.I have no plans on going into the shortblock until I have an problem (or get bored).

There are issues with the oil pumps for some years, including 1999. When I put my cam in I put in a new oil pump and the pressure went up. It may have been fine before. Do a search on oil pumps and you will find out more than I can tell you.

Otherwise, just enjoy it. The rev limiter is there for a reason, don't be afraid to find it!!

Good Luck!!

I got 90k on my '00. Heads and cam, and I beat the hell out of it. It burns oil from the rings cause they never got replaced, but it runs great and strong as ever.

No need, LS2 chain and stock replacement pump (all replacement chains and pumps are LS2/LS6 respectively.

I got 91k on my stock short block. Dosent leak or burn oil. I started first modding at 16k. I do change all fluids very regularly.
