Default Using .927 wrist pin pistons in an LS1

Has anyone used older style SBC pistons and rods in your LS1 buildup? I just got my shortblock done, and we ended up using SBC rods and pistons, since i was getting all new rods and pistons anyway, and they were much cheaper. The pistons were about half the price, the rods were about the same, and the rings were about half as much. It seems like it has turned out pretty good thus far. I was just wondering if anybody else had done anything like this?

I used sbc style rod with custom lsx pistons. The reason sbc rods aren't as good is because they don't have the right offset to center up on the piston. However many people use them. I assume you have the right compression height on the piston. The other problem is that if you had valve reliefs they won't help much since the valve pattern is different on an lsx. Not were I would have tried to save money.
