Get stock replacement lifters. It really doesn't matter which ones you get they are all going to perform the same (as far as oem replacement's are concerned) Comp R's need adjustable rockers for them to be PROPERLY set up. Some people get away with shims or just get lucky, I wouldn't mess with them without the adj rockers though.

Futral uses the cheap melling lifters even in their big stroker motors, from what i understand. I think theyre like 165 for the set.

I replaced a couple lifters already, but i ordered the melling set for when I do heads.

Futral is a sponsor. ------->

They have a hell of a good reputation on this board. Although there are a number of shops that also have good reps. Make a few calls and see what people are suggesting.

Because of the heat and stress they see. I had one tray which is slightly warped, and it allowed the lifter to rotate ~10 degrees. Well, it chewed up part of the lifter roller wheel, and cam. This requires pulling the head, replacing the cam, lifters, etc. The trays are only about $5/piece. You need 4 of them. Still trying to get confirmation if the LS2 trays are the same as LS1 or if they are an upgrade?

Plus theyll fit tighter. At $5 its cheap piece of mind. I believe the ls2 trays will fit in the ls1 and ls6 block. But the ls1 trays will not work in an ls2 motor.

As I understand it Comp makes the OEMs as well at the Rs. The Rs have a stronger spring. You must be talking about adjustable rockers if your going to use shims to get the correct preload. The OEMs sit on those long pedestals and are non-adjustable(no shimming). If you go with aftermarket rockers(adjustable) you might get into using shims or pushrods that are of a length different than stock. I like the Comp Pro Mags. They do require the use of guide plates and hardened pushrods as they are stud mounted. They are roller tip and adjustable. If you use R lifter with them you tighten until you just reach ZERO lash and then lock the set screw. If you use OEMs you turn an additional 1/2 turn then lock it down. Be sure that set screw is good and tight and you'll have many thousands of trouble free miles as I have. Replacing the plastic lifter retainers at $5 each is a good investment. I read that if you drill 1/2" holes in them the oil will drain back into the pan more quickly.
