Default Budget Heads suggestions

I'm starting to look at LS6 or 5.3 heads. LS6's flow better than what I have now (stock LS1) and the 5.3's increase? compression to result in more hp. What kind of things should I consider in deciding between these heads? I might get a decent shot of nitrous in the future. Are the 5.3's not good for nitrous/turbo/superchargers? I'm planning on doing some home porting and possibly a valve job too btw.

How much more hp would I be leaving on the table by just porting my stock LS1 heads?

Any suggestions as far as what route to take while on a budget? Other than the sales section of this site, where is a place I can get a set of LS6 or 5.3's for cheap and what do I need to look out for when buying these used? Thanks!

Take a look at our LS6 style heads. The come with REV valves, titanium retainers, Super 7 machined locks, viton rubber seals, bronze guides, and machined spring bases. We can make your heads custom ordered just for you in chamber sizes from 59cc to 72cc and bore sizes from 3.905"-4.125". These come with new GM MLS head gaskets, OEM head bolts, and a flowsheet that is specific to the set of heads we make for you. All of this for only $1,195.00 per pair assembled. Dart heads might be the answer for you, Aftermarket, not redone OEM heads. Attractive pricing & alot of value for the $$ spent. Titanium retainers, bronze guides, etc.

well damn what happened to getting some cheap LS6 heads? I was interested in seeing what people said for budget heads but it seems all the replies are just venders trying to push their product.
