Default budget heads on a 408

What heads would you run on a 408 iron block motor. I will probably spray a 200 to a 300 shot as well.

Budget? well, mabye the stage 1.5 TEA heads. Or you could wait and see how the Dart heads perform out of the box.

I'm running AFR 205s that've been opened up for the larger bore of the 6.0L. Not necessarily "budget" heads, but I had them already from my 5.7L. I've yet to see how they will perform. Should be dynoed within the next week.

budget heads for a 408 - patriot stg 3 ls-6 heads for i think 1,300-1,400. they flow over 300cfm at .600 lift. intake and i think 230 exhaust on a 4" bore.

they work well with my SLP 402. we'll see just how good they work after i put a big cam in it.

but i would just save up for some AFR 225's - or maybe even ET performance 225's... but the AFR's are a little cheaper and proven performers.

I already have tea 5.3 stage 2 heads on my 5.7
I don't think I will ever buy a head as expensive as the afr's.

I have the Patriot LS6 style stage 3 heads that were opened up for the 4.030 bore and recently dynoed 460 rwhp and 470 rwtq. My cam is tiny though so Im sure it would have made more with a beefier cam in it.

I have the Patriot stage III LS6 style heads. They seem to be an awesome set of heads, I like them. Im also spraying 100-250. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Should have dyno #'s by the weekend.

Turbo'd Stang said he tuned a 408 with *stock* heads and a 244/248/60x/60x/115 cam, and got 460rwhp 460rwtq:

I PM'd him to confirm, and he said that yes it did have stock LS1 heads, and a LS6 intake manifold. Doesn't get more "budget" than that.

Would I be better off getting my tea heads opened up for the 4.030 bore?
Here are their flow numbers for the 3.90 bore:

LS1 5.3 Stage 2

Lift Intake Exhaust
.100" 67.2 57.5
.200" 140.4 110.7
.300" 207.8 168.7
.400" 252 213.2
.500" 290.3 240.8
.550" 304.1 248.7
.600" 317 254.7

I also have a friend who just bought unported dart 205s that he wants to trade. Would the aftermarket casting be better for the larger amounts of nitrous?
