It's pretty much mandatory. Get them.

The ramp rates on some of the cams out there now days will bend the stock pushrods just from normal running let alone 6000+ rpm play days...

Better order up a set.

Yup...don't even bother re-using the stockers...they are a known weak link in the OEM valvetrain, especially at high rpm. I've seen sick pictures of broken/boomeranged LS1 OEM pushrods. If you miss a shift, the PCM cannot control the rev limiter, and you WILL destroy at least one of your pushrods. I ordered a set of Comp Hi-Tech hardened chromemoly pushrods for my cam/heads swap. Up until '95 (LT1's), GM used hardened pushrods...don't know why they switched...especially when they knew the LS-series was a more powerful engine...go figure

depending on the style of the head and how much if at all they are milled. Most people end up getting shorter ones with aftermarket heads. You should ask the people you bought your heads from.

"Do I need to get extended length?"

Not unless you went nuts with your new cam. If you stuck with the OEM lifters and rockers, you should be okay with stock-length pushrods, although an adjustable pushrod length checker is a pretty cheap tool.

Hah, that's funny. I'm doing the same cam in the spring on my car. Not the heads, just the cam.

I've got a post up on some other boards asking specifically about pushrod length with that cam and stock heads. I think it will be fine but I want confirmation.

Specs are: 224/228 .590/.590 on a 113

Why not just call up Cartek tomorrow?

Maybe someone can help us lazy guys out here with the required pushrod length?

Andy, that is a real good example of a trashed pushrod. I can't believe it slipped right out though!

Guess you haven't read the cam guide sticky. You still need to measure it though

We sell the Chromoly pushrods for $89, or I have a used set from my Vette for $40.
