Default What did I DO!!!

Today, coming home from school, Me and two guys in a BMW went for it down the street from my house. While the run I seemed to hear something bend or break!!!! At the driveway I popped the hood and let the engine run to hear any noises that were not there before. It sounds kinda like a diesel engine sound is coming from the passenger side.
Did I over rev it? Bend a pushrod? broke a valvspring?
I don't know much about internal engine.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is there a diagram somewhere on how to do this? I don't want to mess it more than it is, if it is. what nut and whenches to use? How many foot pounds to torque the nuts?

okkkkk
pull the coil packs off the valve cover (not individual coil packs, the entire assembly) thats a 10mm socket.
then pull the valve covers off, 4 10mm or 8mm socket there (i think its 8)
then.......
pull the rockers off, those are 8mm, they will be tight as hell because of locktite or something.

then pull the pushrods out... roll them across glass to see if any are bent. you should also be able to tell if a spring is broke, etc.

to reinstall
put rockers back on, tightent to 22 ft. lb
put valve covers back on, put coils back on, connect coils to harness, install plugwires, etc..

How tight are the bolts for the valve covers? and will I need a new gasket?
Also, the pushrods are slide out and in, nothing else to worry about when messing with the pushrods, like the lifters?

i pulled the passenger valve cover off my 98 for the first time and it was pretty easy. All the bolts after broke torque just came right out with ease. My valve cover is the peremiter type. The bolts were 10 mm and broke and screwed out with my fingers easily. The coil packs on mine are not a whole assymbly, i had to take each one off individually, that was a chore, the gasget is a reusable rubber gasket. The rockers i have never taken off yet. 22lbs is the torque on them, and just make sure to torque all the other bolts and the right order. I think i saw a spread sheet of all the torques on ls1howto.com if i am not mistaken. Take a look there

Brandon, I thought that the rocker bolts were 10mm? I just remember that i mushroomed 3 Craftsman 10's when I did my last cam swap. Sears was perplexed upon the return too! 22ft lbs is a lot of stress on them apparently. smaller ratchet too.
