Default Looking for a cam recommendation for a friend

Currently Stock 2002 WS6 A4. He wants to go more of an odd cam I guess. He is looking for power from off @ 1000rpm -6000rpms. He doesnt want to spin the engine that high, and doesnt need the lope. He mentioned a cam like a roadrace cam, just without going to a solid roller setup and all the other drastic stuff, hence, LIKE a roadrace cam. Normally ppl want xxx cam, so with this one I am a little confused on recommendations.

TIA,

Charlie

power off idle and road race cam dont belong in the same sentence

road race cam is probably gonna have a very narrow power band since the engine will never see low rpm's

Like a street cam, power off idle, 1000 or 1500 and max out at 6k where the shift point will be set, but with huge *****. I dont want to spin past 6k. I would say around the 400rwhp mark. Im going with a road race suspention.

Omar is a very different person to work with, as far getting the right parts. He wants an ASA Sound, a frieght train pull and has to be able to keep the neighbors from killing him. I think I have him on the CheaTR cam with LS6 Style heads, headers & catback, Fuddle TC and then some suspension work via UMI. More my idea of a reliable, budget, stealthy idling, boulevard bruiser!

how about something in the 218-220 dur. @.050 lift on a 110lsa?should pull real hard in the mid range and not peak too high, but it will have a definate lope.

he said he doesnt want lope.

no lope or low lope? i would say something like mentioned around 218-224. i know thunder has a few cams off idle power band that make good power.

Thats the debate that I have going on in my head right now. I definately want the "clapping" lope (the more the better and the louder the better with a cut out and cat back) but I am willing to sacrifice that for the low end torque. As stated above by CAT, on the low end, I want to pull like a freight train, litterally, and still pull throughout the full rpm range.

From what I hear, there is no way I can get a cam with that dragster lope that im looking for and still be reliable (no maintenance) and not suffer on the low end without spinning extremely high.

I dont want to lose anything on the low end but actually gain throughout the full stock rpm range. The cheaTR cam sounds really good to me but I will be sacrificing the sound. Thats ok with me..... I just need to go back out and find that POS 5.sl0w that antagonized me and I couldnt get on it because my son was in the car.... Damn, I miss my bike....

Most results on the CheaTR show it maxing out way above his target of 6000 rpm. I'd suggest calling Thunder and talking it over with them. They should come up with a profile that will work.

224/224, .565/.565 110lsa+4
Comp Cam grind on XE lobes, use 918's and titanium retainers.
You'll need a looser converter like a 2800 stall 2.7 str (so it doesn't pull on the brakes at stop with an 850 rpm idle)

You must have meant 3800 stall ...
