Default How much compression?

How much compression can a LS1 on pump gas handle? I have a 2000 LS1 that I plan to run stage 2 LS6 heads and a 383 stroker kit. The main pistons I see are JE, Wiseco, Probe, Mahl, others...?
LS1 has 10-1 compression, while the LS6 has 10.5-1
With the LS6 combustion chambers, the only pistons I have seen for the stroker kit run much higher
Wiseco 10.8
Probe 11.0
JE 11.3

I have a friend who has a speed shop who can get me JE at a good deal. IS that compression ratio correct? Can I safely run that with 92/93 octane? What are the options?

It depends on your cam. Per several threads on Dynamic Compression Ratio (try Search), the later closing of the intake valve with a longer duration will allow you to run knock-free at over 11:1.

What he said, I'm shooting for SCR of 11:1 (10.9) running an F14 cam. Plus I live at just under 5,000ft altitude. Hopefully it will be happy with 91 octane as it's all I can get here.

Your in Texas so thats good, lol. Some people here go with about 11.5:1 max on pump gas, while the norm here is around 11.0:1.

it really all boils down to the tune, but many people run 11:1 safely on 93 octane. as for your piston selection JE can custom build any compression or piston crown that you need. are u building this motor? or is a shop building ur motor? HPE will give the most definite answer towards any question you might have.it also boils down to your cam selection and application
