Default Did a search... still need advice on the 875-16 Comp R Lifters

I have broken 1 stock lifter and I have another tapping, so I bought some of the Comp R lifters. I was told they will work fine with stock rockers, and I have the stock length harden pushrods. I have seen that people have had issues with this lifter. Is it really the quality of the lifter itself or poor installation? Some have even said they make more noise than the stock ones.

Those of you who have these lifters, and haven't had a problem, what do you recommend as far as installation. Is there any tricks.. cause it seems installing lifters is pretty damn easy, but obviously theres more to these than just dropping them in, mounting the heads, dropping the pushrods in, and torqueing the rockers down to spec.

Thanks.

you were told wrong. they should only be used with adjustable rockers.
.008-.010 cold preload. Soak them overnight in oil before install. Some people have had comp Rs fail here but i believe most if not all of them were with stock rockers or they were improperly preloaded.

My advice is dont use stock rockers at all once its apart...good time to upgrade.

6k miles with Comp R lifters and no problems here.

Hmmm.. rockers such as the Harland Shaft Mount 1.7 Adjustable Roller Rockers part #8451 for $495.00... man... Aren't those heavier than the stock ones? One would think you may lose HP with those if thats the case. I assume stock length pushrods are fine to use... correct? Please explain to me why it is recommended to not use the stock rockers with these lifters. What could happen?

You can use stock rockers but need different pushrods. He is right on the preload setting and the adjustable rockers are better to use. If you have the patients and the knowlege to "adjust" the stock ones they can and have been used. Mainly stock motors with stock cams, stock head gaskets, stock valves, stock rockers, will use the 7.350 pushrods and give you that .010 preload your looking for. You can also spring for the adjustable pushrod length checker to see exactly what length you need.
