Default Dexcool is cool

I have heard a lot of talk back and forth regarding which type of coolant is best. My car is 8 years old and only Dexcool has been used. I inspected all of the water jacket passages I could access and I have to say they are all as smooth as a baby's ***. No corrosion anywhere. The car has 56,000 miles on it.

Looks great! how many coolant flushes have you done if any? My 02' with 40k miles is due for one.

Yeah I've allways thought the stuff has gotten a bad rap (online) I've been using it in all my cars since it came out. I think the problem is when it mixes with the "old" stuff. I did not know but out of general maintenance and being a little OCDish I flushed the vehicle like 3-4 times and then ran clean water through it for prolly twice as long as most people would and had no problems.

the problem isnt when it mixes with the green. you can mix them you just loose the extened life properties. the problem is when there is a coolant leak, either lower intake or whatnot and air gets in and takes the place of the old coolant. its air mixing with the orange that does it. the reason your lsx is so clean is you dont have coolant going through your intake manifold. cause every other car gm makes needs intake gaskets at some point.

Dexcool, used properly, is a good coolant. You just need to pay attention to the level so that no air is mixing in, and you need to use distilled water. I think the people that have had bad luck with it just didn't keep up with the maintenance. Although that's pretty much true for anything automotive.

I haven't done any. Not sure whether or not the previous owner had it flushed either. If I had to quess, I would say he did because it looks so new and clean inside.

I tried that, they didn't buy it. My wife didn't see the humor in it either.

When I had it, I had a cop pull up to me and ask with a grin "how quick is it?"

It is. They only made them from 1979 to 1982. I have a mint 1982 Honda CBX with a 6 into 1 Kerker. It sounds like a racing Ferrari.

Here it is:

Here are my other toys:
1997 C5

2006 Hummer H3

1972 Honda CB450. I restored and painted both Hondas myself. The 450 was a basket case the CBX I only painted and added pipes.
