Default Pushrod length question

I picked up my stuff today from my tunner. He gave me a set of 7.375 pushrods. I asked him why I didnt get a set of 7.400 rods and he said that when you change cams that the geomitries change and you need the shorter rods to comp for that. Does this sound right ??? I am going with a 228/232 on a 112lsa I dont have the lift numbers yet.

Its a 2000. The cam is on the radical side, says my tunner. I had him do a custom grind. Its going to be in the 230 duration on both intake and exhaust. The lift will be in the .575-.585 range on a 112lsa.

the specs that matter is the base circle of the cam.
