Default Slp 408 ?

I Am Thinking Of Buying A Short Block From Slp (408 Alum.), But For Now I Only Have Money For The Short Block, How Much Is The Stock Ls1 Heads Going To Choke This Motor?
This Is Going In A 2000 Ss 6-speed, I Do Have The Ls6 Intake, And A Mild Cam From Thunder Racing.

Has Anyone Had Any Problems With These Short Blocks?

The heads are going to choke it a bit but look at all the cars with stock heads and aftermarket cam making good power. I wouldnt worry about the heads right now just do a valve job on them with new pieces and go on. I think your going to get negative feedback on the SLP 408 though.

Buy a TSP 408, Futral 408, HPE 408, etc... Prices are pretty close to the same as SLP and its probably a better engine than what SLP puts out. The stock heads are gonna kill the power pretty badly..

Yeah you can make good power with stock cubes and a big cam, but thats cause its stock small 346 cubes.. Big difference when you have 408 cubes with the same heads from a 346.. Why not just buy a set of ported heads for your stock motor and step the cam up to something bigger..

If I were you, I would wait until you have ALL the money saved up to get all the goodies for your 408...when you build a new motor, you don't want to put mediocre stuff in it, and then be dissappointed in the end. If you wait out as well, I can bet that the prices of everything will fall as well, and you will just be able to get even more badass stuff.

Best of luck,
Adrian

What are the web sights for TSP, FUTRAL, & HPE?
The reason i am going with a short block instead of a ported heads & bigger cam, is because i have to rebuild the stock motor in my car ( cracked piston or ring problem with 70000k on motor).

You can pick up a stock set of LS6 heads pretty cheap.
