Default Crane doubles

I have crane double valve spring in my car. They have about 7k on them. When should i think about replacing them...10k, 15k, or 20k? Cam is in sig. Rev limiter is set to 7200.

You should have a good while left on those springs. My Crane duals lasted 20K miles before I broke one with a T-Rex cam.

WOW !!! - Rev limiter is set to 7200 ?????? On stock bottom end and your heavy-*** velavetrain I doubt you can spin past 6500 !

Anyways, back to your initial question. In genereal Cranes should be good to 20K, but that depends on how you treat your springs. How many WOT pulls to you have, what rpms, do you let the car warm up before you drive it....etc....

My car peaks at 6400 and holds 410+ until 7200 hense the reason for the limiter being so high. I figured that was about normal just not smart to do.

.

I let it rip any chance i get, usually no higher then 6000-6300 for fun. If at the track or racing on the street i let it go all the way.

had mine on the wife's car for almost a year and one-half (april 2004) now. most of the time on stock cam with 1.8 accelerated lift rockers. just put in the vinci 062 cam last month. now, i have .589/.589 lift on them. when last checked, they were still holding fine. and that was in january.

Last time I spoke with Mark Campbell he mentioned the Project Street Shark still had the original springs and I think it also has .583 lift with the 1.8 rockers. He told me the car was their on the road workhorse/test bed and the springs had thousands of miles on it. You might want to check out the status on that car.

Vinci did the installation, but I think someone who works at Crane uses the car as a daily driver.

Just replaced mine two onths ago after 16k miles on a 0.581 lift cam. Was gonna stick them in my spring compressor to see if they lost anything, but never got around to it.

You can swap the Crane doubles with a PRC double spring without any issues. The great thing about the prc springs is they've been run for up to 50k miles!!

Are the Crane doubles the 832's?

If so, I ran them in my car when I had my 230/236 cam to 7200 for a while. I went up to Comp 977's when I went to my 236/246 current cam.
