Default Ready to upgrade 98 LS1 w/LS6 parts????

I installed a stock 98' LS1 in to my 65' Olds 442 Cutlass about 2.5 years ago and then got sent to Iraq and Afghanistan. Needless to say I'm behind the curve now. I'm ready to add some power to my LS1 Olds and I'm thinking LS6 heads, cam, FAST LSX intake w/90mm TB will cure the itch for now. At this point I want to stay naturally aspirated and off the juice. Does anyone have experience with this combo? A few other questions I have are do ALL LS6 heads fit my early LS1 and if so which head gasket should I use? Thanks for your help!

LS6 heads bolt right up, I do know that. Call any sponsor that builds LSx's and ask them about gaskets, there's a bunch of different kinds.

My brother runs the circut race cars and used Felpro. race gaskets..but he kept blowing head gasketss..switch to GM and stopped the problem...also I Iam running 04 Z06 cam/springs in a 00SS and this is an awesome combo on the street with 50 dry shot. you have a heavy ride and need the pulling power so this would be a great cam with your LS1 heads.

yeah that is very true, but if you are trying to get all you can out of your setup the 90/90 would be a good decision.

i'd get a set of ported ls6s and a slightly bigger and better cam than the ls6 cam like a f13 or something similar.

You'll need 99+ centerbolt valve covers and coil pack racks for the LS6 heads. Your 98 heads are the perimeter bolt style.

Welcome home.
