How hard is to rebuild a LS1 engine?
Well it got flooded here in houston couple of days ago and i hydroclocked the motor. .. After inspecting the motor seem like a rodknock. Possible bent valves or rods.
I believe before anything done to it, motor has to be pulled out. Taken apart. BUt how hard is the process. I have never done it, so im not sure if i want to take it to a shop or work on it myself. Anybody knows of any shops in houston besides MTI that can actually build a LS1 ?

Hey. I am from Houston also. The only other people besides MTI that I would trust is either LME (Late Model Engineering), or HPE ( Horsepower Engineering). I am not exactly sure where LME is located but I do know that HPE is on Breen Rd. If you are familiar with S.H. 249 area around Willowbrook. Go to North Houston-Rosslyn just south of Beltway 8. When you turn down North Houston-Rosslyn follow that down to Breen Rd. Take a left on Breen, go down a little ways and they will be on your right you can't miss them. I do all my own work on my stuff. I know those guys and they do very good work. It's not hard to work on those motors if you have any mechanical sense and the stuff to do it. I would help you rebuild it but I am in Iraq right now so that kinda promotes a problem. If you do decide to do it and need anything just holla at me. I also have the torque specs for every bolt on the f-bodies and I have all the engine and trans codes for any LS based GM. Good luck!

honestly if you never done it before.(i.e. never built any short blocks) I wouldn't try it. the cost for a sponsner to build it and know it's right then for you to build it and make a mistake would make the motor extremly expensive. if you build motor's before and know teh amount of detail you need to pay attention to I wouldn't see any problem with it then. just something to consider because if it's not right you'll be fixing it agian and boy I personal hate reparing things twice.
